On June 9 2010 the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed HR 5026, the Grid Reliability and Infrastructure Defense Act, which would give the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission the Authority to apply regulations to protect the U.S. grid against natural or malicious threats, including both cyber threats and physical threats.
